Argh, I have not been able to access lj since Monday!
+: less procrastination
-: ditto, which is bad when one is struggling with a nightmarish translation.

I swear I spend more time looking for places to procrastinate in than I spent on LJ procrastinating.

... also I want to babble about Takarazuka and right now I'm damn annoyed about the Russian fandom with their 'Oh we don't want some nasty feminists to join our fandom'.

WTF? Seriously, WTF? They do that?

Yeah... Well, first that woman who had hysterics about our game had another fit of hysterics that her unique LJ interest 'Роза Версаля' was now shared by some nasty crazy feminist and why on earth and how unpleasant that was (I went and looked - that was LJ user 'sadxcrivan' (not sure if I spelt that right), if you've seen her). Okay, I chalked it to her being not entirely sane, but now they're having a discussion and some not-insane people are nodding and saying how right she was about that, and how they wouldn't be happy to see such uncongenial people in their fandom... I was torn between saying 'boo' and having a hissy fit about leaving fandom, but did neither because I don't want to deal with that.

Fucking shit. How do you always find the nastiest fandoms that are out there? You should definitely check out Reborn XD

Meanwhile, I'm so angry with the X-Men franchise that I'm almost hyperventilating. X-posting news from the ComicCon:
Stentz [scriptwriter] basically confirmed Erik/Charles (he called First Class, “the tragic romance of Charles and Erik”) and went on to describe how if certain events/personal ideologies/chosen paths hadn’t forced them apart, Erik and Charles would most certainly be together. According to him, it’s one of those “they’re meant for each other, but fate refuses to let them stay together” situations.
And - I CAN'T EVEN. It's the question of artistic and/or personal integrity: if he wanted to be all progressive and shit, he should have told that story on-screen, rather than writing explicit het relationships while patting the fen on the head: "Whatever you want, gals, of course they totes are gay for each other, just buy the damn dvds". He doesn't get to be both progressive and heteronormative, he cannot claim both those things :(

I have a talent, I guess. ... I'd like some other talent instead of this one, please. (what, Reborn is that level of unpleasant? ;) )

Oh dear. Not funny. There's fanservice and then there's this (at least Rowling had the excuse of children's books being non-edgy by necessity. Though I am still annoyed they did not include even throwaway lines _in the books_ about some of the students being gay).

Reborn is the only fandom known EXCLUSIVELY for its trolls (as opposed to occasional wanks each fandom has). See fandom overview: http://www.reborn.h16.ru/

I was more than fine with MacAvoy toying with the fans, since he doesn't have that level of authorial control. But the scriptwriter producing such BS is another matter altogether.

What fine people))) Pity I'm not quite up to dealing with this))) But really, I have the worst of luck. ... I mean, really, I can see why a feminist fan would find Takarazuka troubling, but since when does that preclude interest? And there's such a lot of interesting things - from the dynamics and ideas about representation to, well, lots of beautiful women))))

I think they stopped thinking about what they're doing.

Enforcing of traditional gender stereotypes in actresses' off-stage representations?

It seems that they do think, but I don't like their conclusion & the fandom's inforcement of them :-/

Even on-stage - Takarazuka is incredibly otokoyaku-centered. Like, I was watching a concert where there was a block for all the top pairs - and most usually top otokoyaku is lifted on stage and sings, and top musumeyaku runs out from the side and dances around her. And off-stage, yes - musumeyaku are so rarely promoted.

Well, are you really surprised about fandom?

As to Rowling & Dumbledore, I've chalked that up to "children lit blah blah" at the time, but now that excuse makes me more sad than anything else, with all its implications that "OMG THE KIDS WILL BE TRAUMATIZED FOR LIFE WITH THE GAYZ!!!111".
