* I like the eps where the marginalized groups are targeted. That might sound creepy-wrong-wrong, but such victims actually raise the stakes for the BAU: if the victims metonymically represent the middle class & its values (blond cheerleaders, hikers from white-picket-fence neighbourhoods, etc.), it's the social order at stake; when the marginalized people are targeted, it's humanity in danger. This message is underlined by the inhumane, almost mythological way the killers dispose of the bodies (devoured by pigs? ew, creepy), and their Frankestein-esque experiments; the battle against them is almost cosmogonical in its scope.

* The show is sending some seriously mixed signals re:the pervasiveness of trauma. The victims are not defined by the trauma (the major reason I'm loving the show for) - the killer is, but also the BAU, but then, their likeness to killers, their single-minded obsessiveness is oft-referenced onscreen. Here we have the good guy defined by the trauma too - not just the psychological one, but the physical one as well. Not that self-sacrificing courage bordering on insanity (and, y'know, taking justice into your own hands) is healthy; but it's presented as a heroic deed, so. (Liked him a lot, BTW.)

* I'm BADLY squicked by doctors-gone-bad plotlines (I tend to blame it on childhood exposure to description of Nazi quasi-medical experiments), so I ended up skipping whole chunks of the ep :(

* God, it's good to see Rossi again after catching up on earlier seasons! I love the way he conducts interrogations - no-bullshit, just this side of menacing, fiddling with interviewee's emotions like whoa.

* OMG bloody shoes! That's a whole new level of creepy! (and a concentration camp visual shout-out, I guess)

* I'm developing an inappropriate girlcrush on Prentiss XD

* Garcia: still a minor deity who has too much fun doing what che does now to bother with larger stuff XD

* They had the cutest bloodhounds as police dogs <3

* I love how tuned-in the team is to each other's trigger buttons: Hotch just lets Morgan go without further questions the moment he asks leave.

* Kelly: another of those victims who, basically, save themselves, yay!

* Hated the final Hotch's exposition-y monologue. It was almost 19 C. in style, and I prefer smth more subtle as my poison of choice.

* Killing off Hotch has become their favourite way to end seasons, woot XD

Somebody told me this season was meant to be 26 episodes long, so I've been hoping for one extra ep :( Well, at least this one was extra-long.

lol. I have to say my reactions post-finale were more..... hysterical in nature than yours.

very cool-as-a-cucumber, even. ^_^

*envies*

Also agree with all you've mentioned here, but! *protests* Prentiss is totally appropriately crushable. *nods* uh-huh.

(I'm not from states so I don't know how they showed it, but apparently the finale is 25&26 eps put together(?).)

Thank you!

Prentiss is totally appropriately crushable

There must be a long line of people crushing on Prentiss blocking all the traffic in front of the FBI Academy, and blocking traffic is inappropriate, so... :-P

Sure looks that way (but, I mean, this episode was not as epic, as, say, King Fisher, and could have been easily squeezed in the usual 40 min format?), but I'm not from the US too - bless the people uploading eps!

(BTW, I love your icon - I have the same pup, only golden)

ooooh *nods wisely* that totally would make sense. *win!*

^_^

no, you're right, this ep isn't epic like king fisher etc, it seemed more like a normal episode, with that last bit nudged in before the end(see?? I can't even mention it! *wails*)... but I enjoyed the episode as an whole nevertheless. plotholes? what plotholes? *roles eyes sarcastically* honestly CBS!

you have a golden? *squees* mine is a choc lab, and she's waaay bigger now(had her 1 yr B'day last week). *smushes puppies* they sooo kute.

Yeah, the angst was so pastede on! I've heard the spoilers that Boston Reaper was to return, and Hotch was to be tortured, but as minutes rolled by, I just decided that that info was a fake. And then it all happened, totally out of the blue :( I'm almost 100% sure that Hotch will return unscathed in 5.01, and I'm almost angry at scriptwriters for jerking us fen around like that, but I'm still anxious :( It just wouldn't be the same without Hotch :( Loved the ep nonetheless, of course.

No, I have a lab too, he's just golden-coated. Yeah, they are the cutest dogs in the world!

kinda reminded me of "Lucky" and "Penelope" y'know? yeah, in a sensed teh dodgy, but whoa, where did this! come from? way.

^_^

WORD. totally agree.

have you seen [livejournal.com profile] innersyltherin 's post and consequent comments to the finale? *laughs* totally worth for the comic relief.

because? that gun shot was totally coming from seeecrit lover(insert preferred BAU member/s) and they totally shot Reaper to SMITHEREENS, yes, and Hotch will BE FINE DAMMNIT.

*manic g* oh dear. I'm going to be in trouble this summer. help!

Oh, now I get it XD I must have been screwed for life by Supernatural and OZ, where opening the hellgates or killing off half the cast are the inevitable elements of seasone finales XD (Come to think of it, CM is the first procedural I've fallen for, though I plan on watching Homicide).

in a sensed teh dodgy, but whoa, where did this! come from?

On the general principle, I like such plot twists, but I'm of the old "one plot per episode" school - otherwise my tiny brain just starts to melt down from info overload XD

have you seen innersyltherin 's post and consequent comments to the finale?
YES!!! XD Those made my day! Also, she's, like, the only fellow Rossi/Hotch shipper, which is always a nice bonus XD

I'm going to be in trouble this summer. help!

Summer is for writing rescue fics, the crackier the better :)

'I must have been screwed for life by Supernatural and OZ, where opening the hellgates or killing off half the cast are the inevitable elements of seasone finales XD'

THIS. *Beams*

CMs takes first place, with NCIS running a close second, I also enjoy Dexter and Bones too. Haven't been able to get into none of the CSI reincarnations nor L&O. Homicide? *quirk brow* (er, can you count Due South and The Sentinel as procedurals?)

as much as I love plot twists too, I'm such a spoilerfreak I need the reassurance... I've always been a last page before first kinda gal. *g* So yes, mutual brain-melting from shock value indeed.

you and innerslytherin.... y'all are determined to make us view Rossi a sexual being in relation to the rest of BAU, aren'tcha? *scolds* nuh-uh.

(I love Rossi, I feel the same way about Gideon too.) I can understand, Rossi *is* the closest/real thing to an equal Hotch has, professionally and experience-wise. But! *clings to delusions tightly* nooooos!

though, Cara Mia? *worships* beautiful, beautiful fic.

YES!!!! rescue!fics. *gives desperate look* need. now. crack you say? music to mine ears. ^_^

Homicide?

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106028/ Written by Tom Fontana of OZ fame. The guy's talented, but also a sadistic bastard. I'm sort of torn XD

er, can you count Due South and The Sentinel as procedurals?

I tend to view Due South as urban fantasy, but, well, procedural comes a close second as its genre definition XD

I've always been a last page before first kinda gal.

I second that. Time after time, I promise myself not to get into ongoing canons, but... :(

y'all are determined to make us view Rossi a sexual being in relation to the rest of BAU, aren'tcha?

You say it like it's a bad thing XD
