Oh the kinkmeme-savvy friends of mine

While prowling the wilderness of a kinkmeme, as one does, I found a shiny prompt that got my juices flowing, but with a major caveat.

[Hypothetical example is hypothetical]

OP: Harry/Eggsy. Harry and Eggsy own an artisanal bakery and bond over growing the special herbs gathered in the fields of Provence, at dawn before full moon, by virgins.

Me: Such a swell idea, OP! <3
P.S. It's Starbucks instead of an artisanal bakery.
P.P.S. They are growing weed rather than herbs. Whatever, some growing's happening, right?
P.P.P.S. It's Harry/Merlin instead of Harry/Eggsy, because Eggsy does not make me happy in my pants.
Much love, p_m

Any idea on what's the correct procedure for such cases? Obviously, that's not a fill, because I tend not to provide such strong reasons to reconnect my mug to a chair. But that's still, recognizably, a kernel of the OP's idea. If I do write it (the temptation is strong, and the spirit is weak), do I acknowledge the original prompt/drop the OP a link regardless? Or do I just, dunno, break my fingers with a door and not write the thing?

Need help from people more experienced in these things!

Write it, acknowlege in the notes that it's vaguely/partially based on prompt X from the kinkmeme, drop a line to the OP saying something like "It's not quite what you wanted, but your prompt inspired me to write a similar story with some changes [link]".
